Professional wet & dry vacuums for French-speaking markets: the sourcing file before the first container

From Lyon to Casablanca, the professional cleaning buyer searches the same way — aspirateur eau et poussière professionnel — and rejects quotations the same way too: missing files, wrong plugs, vague packaging. A market-by-market sourcing checklist for distributors building a wet & dry vacuum programme across the Francophone world.

One language, four very different markets

Francophone cleaning distribution is not one market. France buys through specialist réseau dealers and national contract-cleaning tenders; Belgium and Switzerland expect German-grade documentation even when they order in French; Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria buy hard-working machines at sharp prices and care most about parts availability. A professional wet & dry vacuum programme that treats them identically will be average everywhere. The platform matters less than the file pack and the configuration around it — which is exactly what the wet & dry barrel vacuum line is engineered around: one drum family, several market builds.

Question 1 — Which files does the buyer open first?

French professional buyers shortlist on documents before price: CE declarations across LVD, EMC and RoHS, then GS where the channel expects German-style assurance, then the CB scheme report that accelerates any national approval. Energy-related claims bring ErP documentation into play — relevant for the 800 W / 22 kPa class such as the HJ 1602. Ask the supplier to send the pack with the quotation; if it arrives after your follow-up email, that is your answer about how the account will run.

Question 2 — Does the build match French hardware reality?

France runs 230 V with Type E sockets, Belgium mixes E and C, Switzerland has its own Type J — and North African markets run 220 V with Type C/E. Cable length, plug moulding and carton labelling must be configured per market, not assumed. Buyers should also confirm the machine tolerates local voltage sag on job sites: motor class matters here — a 400 W / 27 V battery-platform drum such as the HJ 2507 suits fit-out and site work where sockets are not guaranteed.

Question 3 — Can the packaging speak French legally?

French retail and professional channels expect French-language packaging and manuals — and France's consumer law is strict about it. Confirm the factory can produce FR manuals, FR safety panels on the colour box, and neutral-carton options for distributors who print their own. Wording discipline follows the same rules as every compliance-sensitive category: functional descriptions printed freely, performance claims only with a test file behind them. The certificate & compliance page shows the document set behind the programme.

Question 4 — Stainless or polypropylene for your channel?

French dealer networks sell stainless drums to automotive and industrial buyers — the HJ 2503T class — while facility and rental channels push lighter polypropylene tanks for price. North African importers often take both: stainless for the automotive quarter, poly for municipal and facility tenders. Confirm tank material explicitly on the RFQ; it moves the price band more than motor wattage.

Question 5 — What does the container plan look like?

Francophone distributors rarely fill a container with one SKU. The realistic first order mixes drum vacuums with stick vacuums and floor washers to cube out; drum platforms in this family load from 200 units per 40HQ (stainless and industrial builds) up to 2,292 units for the compact facility class. Ask for the loading plan per model, not a generic container promise — the container loading guide explains the arithmetic buyers should demand line by line.

Question 6 — After-sales: which parts travel in container one?

Professional machines live on their filters, hoses and switches. The distributor who wins the tender is the one with consumables on the shelf in month three. Before signing, confirm the spare-parts list, per-part pricing at container quantities, and whether filters are standardised across the drum family — standardisation is what turns a parts bin into a parts business.

The Francophone first-container checklist

  • CE + GS + CB file pack delivered with the quotation; ErP where energy claims appear
  • 230 V / Type E (or market-correct) plug configuration confirmed in writing
  • FR packaging and manual capability confirmed, with neutral-carton option priced
  • Tank material per channel: stainless for automotive/industrial, poly for facility/rental
  • Per-model loading plan and a mixed-container layout for the first order
  • Spare-parts list priced at container quantity, filter standardisation confirmed

Where to continue: the wet & dry vacuum buying guide covers the machine-level comparison, and the industrial applications guide maps which tier sells into which facility contract across the Francophone world.
