500W vs 600W Cordless Vacuum: Does Wattage Matter?

Short answer: less than you think — until it's the only difference. Long answer with numbers, from our own line (114 SKUs, so we've made every variant in this fight).

Why wattage misleads

Input wattage measures electricity drawn, not cleaning power. The same 500W motor yields wildly different suction depending on motor type and airflow path. The two numbers that actually track performance: suction (kPa) and air watts. A 150W brushless (BLDC) unit routinely out-cleans a 500W brushed one.

So when does 600W matter?

When everything else is equal: same BLDC motor family, same battery platform — then +100W ≈ +12–15% suction and slightly shorter runtime. That's the real 500-vs-600 conversation, and it only exists inside one brand's lineup. Across brands, compare kPa + air watts + motor type. Retail shelf trick: a weak brushed motor badged "600W" outspec'd by a 250W BLDC unit half its price.
